Jacqueline Goldfinger is also a traveling speaker and teaching artist who works with theater artists and enthusiasts of all ages to ignite their creativity, offer insight into theatrical practice, and provide contextual support for theatrical connection with other contemporary artists.
She's worked as a panel moderator and guest speaker. Past panels include Current State of Arts Journalism (Philadelphia Theatre Company), Shakespeare in Contemporary Practice (Annenberg Center/Kelly Writers House), The Future of American Playwriting with John Guare (EgoPo/Drexel University), Working in the Arts (Agnes Scott College), The Future of New Plays (InterAct Theatre Company), Political and Satirical Theater (PlayPenn New Play Conference), A Practical Guide for Leading a Creative Life co-hosted with R. Eric Thomas (TheatrePhiladelphia/PlayPenn), and Unraveling Codependency in The Brownings (Orbiter 3/FringeArts).
As a dramaturg she has worked with companies including PlayPenn, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Arden Theatre, North Coast Rep, Native Voices, La Jolla Playhouse (assistant dramaturg/artistic assistant) and Center Theatre Group (dramaturgy/new work intern). She interviews and facilitates public conversations with artists and producers about their work. Past interviews and facilitated conversations include Kirsten Greenidge, Paula Vogel, JT Rogers, Lee Blessing, Mary Robinson, Michele Volansky, Jen Childs, and Malcolm Kenyatta.
Being a teaching artist is deeply rooted in her practice. She enjoys working with both children and adults to crack open new worlds through theatrical exploration. She works with a wide range of educational organizations including University of Pennsylvania, McCarter Theatre, PlayPenn, Rutgers Writers Conference, UCSD, UC Davis, University of the Arts, University of Maryland, DataArts Education, and Philadelphia Young Playwrights.
She is also a Kennedy Center-ACTF mentor and Co-Founder of The Foundry @ PlayPenn, an emerging artists lab, which provides a free three-year mentorship and training program for emerging playwrights.
She teaches a wide-range of workshops and classes, from one day master classes to semester long workshops. Topics range from playwriting to dramaturgy, from contemporary practice to art & culture organizational leadership.
She holds a MFA from the University of Southern California and a BA from Agnes Scott College.
Her thoughts on contemporary performance have been published in TCG's Audience Revolutions series, the LMDA Review, The Dramatists Magazine, Phindie, Bonaly Review, Southern Theatre Magazine, and more. She has also created program and dramaturgical text for La Jolla Playhouse, Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company, and others.
