Over the past decade of teaching in academic and professional development programs, I’ve refined a process to help playwrights launch their work into the world and reach their creative goals. Now, I’m bringing this model of professional consultation to the public so more playwrights can thrive in the challenging landscape of the American theatre.
“Thank god for these conversations. I was approaching my website and applications all wrong. This has helped me learn and grow, and actually get into a fellowship program! I look forward to using the business skills that I learned far into the future.” -Nikki T., consultee
"A consultation with someone of Jacqueline Goldfinger’s experience about how to navigate the business side of playwriting as it relates specifically to your play or project is an amazing opportunity. I thought if I got a few places to submit and a few thoughts about how to get the play out in the world, it would be well worth the price. But what I got was a mind-blowing amount more! Seriously, it’s a no-brainer. I’ve been writing plays for decades and have advanced degrees in dramatic writing, but I have felt increasingly more daunted and discouraged by the theatre landscape since the pandemic. Jackie provided real advice, real strategies about how to get my play into the world, as well as many other thoughts about my career, website, social media presence, artistic statement, and so much more." -Stacey C., consultee
Process
(1) Send me your script or a narrative of your project idea for review along with three dates/times you’re available to chat: https://www.jacquelinegoldfinger.com/contact
(2) I’ll reply to confirm receipt of materials and a date/time for our first conversation. I’ll also review the materials before our first conversation.
(3) Then we’ll have a 30-minute phone conversation about where you are in the creative process, and your short and long term goal(s) for this script/project. Next, we’ll set a time and date for a hour-long meeting in the future, and I’ll provide a link for payment. (Payment is due before our next session.)
(4) Before we meet again, I’ll do research and outreach to find resources, opportunities, and other tools to help you advance your project. I’ll also provide a document with initial links, tools, and information before our next conversation including feedback on your website, social media, and other online profiles.
(5) Then we’ll have a 60-minute phone conversation where we review the document and discuss further options.
You’ll leave our second session with a list of new resources and opportunities curated to meet the needs of your writing project as well as guidance on how to make the most of these opportunities and others.
